Honoring Fr. Matthew Wheeler '10 as Pastor of Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center.
The Trojan Catholic community gathered for a joyful Installation Gala honoring Fr. Matthew Wheeler ’10 as Pastor of Our Savior Parish and the USC Caruso Catholic Center. The evening celebrated his leadership and the vibrant, welcoming community he fosters, a true home away from home for students.
The Gala brought together family, friends, and supporters of the Catholic Center to celebrate this joyful milestone and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
Fr. Matt shared heartfelt reflections on gratitude and his vision for the Center, inspiring all with his commitment to serving students. Rick Caruso, whose generosity and vision helped shape the Catholic Center into what it is today, expressed his support for the ministry and encouraged those in attendance to come alongside Fr. Matt in the meaningful work ahead.
Under Fr. Matt’s leadership, the Center continues to flourish, nearly 70 students are exploring the Catholic faith through the OCIA program, Sunday Mass attendance has grown to around 800, and over 7,300 meals were shared at SCupper Sunday Dinners this year alone. Small group Bible studies, retreats, and outreach programs have all seen remarkable growth, reflecting a thriving community hungry for connection and spiritual growth.
The night was a beautiful testament to faith, fellowship, and community; a joyful and fitting celebration of a beloved priest stepping into his new role as Pastor.
