Welcoming Our Shepherd: Fr. Matt’s Installation Mass

September 25, 2025

This past Sunday, September 21, the Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center community gathered in joy and gratitude to celebrate the installation Mass of our new pastor, Fr. Matthew Wheeler ‘10. It was a beautiful moment in the life of our community as we officially welcomed him into his ministry here at USC.

Students, alumni, parishioners, and benefactors joined together to mark this special occasion. Surrounded by the Trojan Catholic community, Fr. Matt was formally entrusted with his pastoral responsibilities, symbolizing his role as shepherd to guide us in faith, hope, and love.

The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Matthew Elshoff, joined by several brother priests, which made the occasion especially meaningful. Words of encouragement and thanksgiving were shared for Fr. Matt’s commitment to leading our community with compassion and dedication. The Installation Mass is not only a formal rite but also a moment of unity, reminding us of the mission we share as disciples of Christ on campus and beyond.

As we look forward to this new chapter, we give thanks for the many ways God continues to bless our community. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us in prayer and celebration on this joyful day. Please continue to keep Fr. Matt in your prayers as he begins this important ministry at the Caruso Catholic Center.
