Take Courage 2019 Christmas Appeal

Group of students making peace sign with hands

During this beautiful season of Advent, as we patiently await Christ's return both into the world and into our hearts, we hear His invitation to take courage and be not afraid. This heart of hope (designed by our very own, Chris Patao) is a symbol of encouragement to our entire Catholic Trojan Family but especially our students who have been rocked by several deaths this semester. May they come to Christ this Advent with all their pain, all their doubt, and all their anger so that He may transform that rawness into a beautiful mosaic.

Consequently, Our Savior Parish and USC Caruso Catholic Center has become a “field hospital” for this campus and offers respite to young men and women who are broken and confused. It is my honor and privilege as their pastor to journey with these students in their time of need and to help them know they are loved by God. In fact, many students affectionately call “The CC” their spiritual home because our community offers unconditional love, come as you are.

And, just like any home, there is a cost to running the household. We are the youngest parish (age of parishioners) in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. Unlike other larger parishes, we have one of the smallest offertories in the diocese. We also do not receive financial support from USC or the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Consequently, this Christmas Appeal helps us chip away at our annual fundraising goal of $2.5M to continue to be a beacon of light, of hope, and of love. Every gift at any level helps make a difference in the lives of our students. Thank you for your support, may God bless you and your families this Advent season.
